Turn to Deaver Electric if you live in the Des Moines area and are ready to install a new hot tub, or replace your old one. Our professional electricians know how to wire a hot tub correctly so you can spend less time worrying about installation and more time enjoying your new spa.
There are multiple ways you can configure your hot tub, along with the big decision of where to put it — and both can affect installation. A filled hot tub can weigh more than 5,000 pounds, so it’s best to set it on a reinforced slab of concrete. Some people have an existing deck that they want to place it on, though. If that’s the case, we recommend you contact an engineer to make sure the deck can hold the weight before getting in too deep.
No matter where you put your hot tub, indoor or out, we’ll figure out how to do the electric install. Usually, a hot tub electrical system requires one 240-volt electrical circuit, along with a disconnect switch at least 5 feet away according to the National Electrical Code standards, but still in sight at a reasonable distance so it can be turned off if needed. We’ll also protect the circuits with a GFCI electrical circuit breaker.
